Our future direction…
We have big dreams, and though we don’t currently have the means, we hope someday to invest in land and call it home for the foreseeable.
Our long-term vision is to co-run a market garden-cum-farm that has the capacity to employ six to eight people full time. The farm would consist of no-till market gardens complimented by some field scale crops. Grains, pulses, livestock, flowers, fruit and seed production would find their way in there too. The farm would be rooted and woven into the community its land lies in, with a strong focus on providing work and training to young and new entrants into farming. The farm would also focus on research and practice into ways of producing food as our climate changes, whilst also doing outreach work on hunger and food poverty in the local community. As growers we’ve quickly learned that, although pests and diseases can completely destroy a crop, the soil is generous, food is bountiful, and no one should be going hungry.
We’re not sure yet where this land might be, but we feel that what we’re doing now is all part of preparing the ground for this future farm we envisage.
* If you or anyone you know, is looking to sell any land, please do get in touch. We are looking for 4-20 acres of well maintained pastureland. It must have good access and sizeable flat blocks ideally with a south facing aspect.
